Elle Márjá Eira won the global search for a theme song to commemorate the launch of the Ghost Rocket mission.
In May this year, Andøya Space in collaboration with NASA, Ghost Rocket Music, and HIMA, launched the international search for a theme song.
Someone suggested to Elle Márjá that she should participate in this contest- and so she did. "Ava" was sent as her contribution, and then she didn't think much more about it. Until she got the news that she was chosen as one of the ten finalists.
July 30, Elle Márjá attended the Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA), where the winner was announced at the historical Avalon Hollywood.
- For me it is an honor that they chose my song, says Elle Márjá.
She tells that "Áva" is about meeting with something unfamiliar; something that is outside of you, spiritually, or an unexplainable phenomenon which seems distant, but close at the same time. The song is written together with Morten Pettersen.
In her speech, Elle Márjá said that it is important that the voice of indigenous people is heard.
November 12, the rocket launch in Andøya is livestreamed, and the winning song will be played.
Stay tuned!
