– I am so grateful that Goavve-Geabbil (Hyundai Commission), designed in collaboration with perfumer Nadjib Achaibou, has been awarded this year’s Sadakichi Award for Experimental Work with Scent under The Art and Olfaction Awards.
This is what artist Máret Ánne Sara says after it became clear that her artwork won the award.

– Scent is important in my artistic work, because it is a separate language for me. Understanding scents is like a pathway to Sámi philosophy and worldview. The scent is connected to the body and senses, says Máret Ánne.

The Art and Olfaction Awards have been presented since 2014. The award has several categories, and the award for scent in art, installations or research, is one of the categories.

In recent years, Máret Ánne's works have included scent. At both the Venice Biennale and the Tate Modern, scent has been like a separate experience, as an important part that gives the viewer a deep and complete experience of her art.

Nadjib Achaibou has worked with her in both Venice and London.

– I am so happy and grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Nadjib Achaibou. He is an exceptional perfumer, and his skills, knowledge, creativity and enthusiasm have been so important in this work, says Máret Ánne Sara.
